Peace With God

The angels proclaimed “Peace on earth” when Jesus the Prince of Peace was born. The God of Peace carried out His great rescue plan sending His Son, the Prince of peace, into the world to reconcile sinners to Himself by His shed blood on the cross. The advent gift of peace was provided for us at a costly price. Let us honor God receiving and unwrapping His gift of peace, by simply turning from our sin and trusting in Jesus.

The great Christmas hymn written by Charles Wesley captured this glorious good news we celebrate during advent:

“Hark! the herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King; Peace on earth, and mercy mild – God and sinners reconciled!”

We who are sinners each need to experience reconciliation with through the finished work of Jesus dying for our sins. The Bible teaches us that the earthly minded, fleshly focused sinner is hostile towards God. When humanity rejects it’s Gracious Creator’s good design for their lives & rebels against the authority of their King internal turmoil lingers, and all other relationships are effected by the lack of peace. But Jesus came to remove that barrier of hostility toward God by not only the sacrificial payment of His life but also by changing our sinful hearts. Finding peace with God through trusting Jesus is the most important event in the history of your life before entering into the afterlife. And finding peace with God leads to living the quality of life that God wants for His children here and now (John 10:10).
